Summer tour comes to an end

Thanks to all who came out for the SUMMER OF '68 tour. In recent months, I've been to New York, San Francisco, St. Louis, Chicago and Los Angeles, including three separate swings through the great state of Michigan.
I was in Ann Arbor last weekend, at the Kerrytown Book Festival, catching a football game  Read More

Back home -- for now

I'm home for a few weeks after successful swing through northern Michigan. I visited some great bookstores -- McLean & Eakin in Petoskey and Brilliant Books in Traverse City.
Next stop is Los Angeles and a photo-driven discussion at the Burbank Public Library on Aug. 23. The fun starts at 7 p.m.

SUMMER in Sports Illustrated

SUMMER OF '68 joins LEFTY, DRIVING MR. YOGI and Paul Dickson's great bio on VEECK, among others, in this week's Sports Illustrated on page 20. It's a funky chart in which SUMMER ranks No. 1 in the Fisticuffs/Riots category.

Thumbs-up from Kirkus Reviews

During one of the most tumultuous years in our history, a remarkable baseball season unfolded.
